Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account or using AfyaFamily, you agree to these terms and any programme-specific supplement presented to you. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Eligibility, minimum age, guardian involvement and confidential adolescent access vary by programme and local law. The service’s technical age range of 10–99 does not override those rules. If you use AfyaFamily for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
Educational information and navigation
AfyaFamily provides educational family-planning information, decision support and care navigation. It does not diagnose a condition, prescribe treatment, create a clinician–patient relationship or replace advice from a qualified professional who understands your health.
Information may not fit every medical history, medicine, pregnancy status or local guideline. Use it as a starting point for informed questions, not as the sole basis for a clinical decision.
Emergencies and urgent safety
Aya may notice urgent language and suggest next steps, but automated checks can miss risk. AfyaFamily does not continuously monitor conversations and cannot promise a real-time human response.
Your account and device
Provide accurate information, keep your PIN private, protect devices used to access AfyaFamily and tell programme support if you suspect unauthorised access. Support will never ask for your PIN.
Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, create deceptive accounts or use another person’s phone or information without authority. You are responsible for activity through your account to the extent allowed by law.
Ask Aya and AI limitations
Aya uses artificial intelligence and vetted retrieval sources. AI can misunderstand you, omit context, use an unexpected language or produce incorrect, incomplete or outdated information. Same-language responses are a design goal, not a guarantee.
Check important facts and discuss clinical choices with a qualified professional. Chat and voice with Aya are not end-to-end encrypted; the Privacy Policy explains processing and history choices.
Nearby care listings
Nearby listings are supplied by Google and may be incomplete, outdated, duplicated or inaccurate. They are not independently verified by AfyaFamily. Check current opening hours, contact details, services, costs, accessibility and eligibility directly with a provider before travelling.
Aya may suggest options based on permitted location and available listing information. A suggestion is not an endorsement, booking, guarantee of quality or guarantee that a provider can meet your needs.
Expert services and private messaging
An Aya verification badge means a programme has completed its configured review; it does not guarantee availability, advice, credentials in every jurisdiction or any particular outcome. Confirm professional scope where necessary.
Direct expert messages and attachments are end-to-end encrypted using device-held keys. If keys or devices are lost, content may not be recoverable. Translation is optional: choosing it decrypts selected text on your device and sends it to an AI provider after a warning, temporarily taking that text outside the encrypted boundary.
Privacy, consent and responsible learning
Our Privacy Policy explains data practices. Optional research, analytics, location, history and reminder uses depend on your choices and programme rules. You can withdraw optional consent for future processing.
Programme operators must only use protected research and analytics in line with applicable notices, governance, ethics approval and law.
Acceptable use
Use AfyaFamily lawfully and with respect for other participants, experts and staff. You must not:
- threaten, harass, exploit or harm another person;
- share unlawful sexual, violent, hateful or abusive material;
- probe security, bypass access controls, scrape at scale or access another tenant without written authorisation;
- upload malware, automate disruptive traffic or interfere with service availability;
- share credentials, impersonate a clinician or misrepresent expertise; or
- use the service to facilitate fraud or other unlawful activity.
These restrictions do not prevent legitimate personal access, correction or export requests, good-faith vulnerability reporting, or activity AfyaFamily has expressly authorised.
Your messages and uploads
You retain ownership of content you provide. You give the relevant programme and platform operators a limited permission to process it only as needed to deliver, secure and support the service and fulfil choices described in the Privacy Policy.
Only upload material you have the right and consent to share. Do not upload another person’s sensitive information unless it is necessary, lawful and appropriately authorised.
AfyaFamily technology and content
The software, brand, interface and programme materials are owned by their respective licensors. Subject to these terms, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive and revocable right to use AfyaFamily for its intended purpose.
Do not copy, resell, reverse engineer or commercially exploit protected parts of the service except where applicable law permits it despite this restriction or written permission has been given.
Third-party services and links
AfyaFamily depends on services such as OpenAI, Google Places, Expo, operating-system stores and external care-provider websites or phone networks. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply. We are not responsible for independent third-party content or acts, though we select and govern processors used directly by the platform.
Availability, changes and suspension
Features may differ by tenant, language, country, device or programme. We may maintain, change or discontinue features and cannot promise uninterrupted service. We may restrict or suspend access to protect people, comply with law, investigate abuse or address security risks.
If a programme ends or an account closes, data choices and retention follow the applicable Privacy Policy and programme notice. Contact support before closure if you need to request an export.
Disclaimers and reasonable limits
To the extent allowed by law, AfyaFamily is provided on an “as available” basis without a promise that every answer, listing, translation or feature will always be accurate, complete or available. You remain responsible for seeking qualified care and verifying important decisions.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights, warranties or liability that local law does not allow to be excluded. Any responsibility of a programme operator or platform provider will be assessed under the applicable programme notice and law; these terms do not invent a universal monetary cap.
Disputes and local law
Your programme-specific notice should identify the responsible operator, contact route and any applicable dispute process or governing law. Mandatory consumer, health and data-protection rights in your location continue to apply. These general terms do not select a jurisdiction for every programme.
Please contact programme support first where practical so concerns can be understood and addressed promptly.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms when services, programme arrangements or law change. Material changes should be presented before they take effect where required. Continuing to use the service after a valid notice may indicate acceptance where local law allows.
Questions can be sent to support@maternalapp.jkbytes.org or to the programme contact supplied during onboarding.
